Scope and Content

Business and family correspondence of John Micklethwaite, merchant, of Leeds and Ardsley near Barnsley, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, mostly from correspondents in various Yorkshire towns (mainly Leeds, Wakefield, Sheffield and Barnsley) and in London, with some letters from abroad (Amsterdam, Baltimore and Philadelphia). Numbers 342-353 (1790-1794) relate to the affairs of Mary Ellis.
