Administrative / Biographical History

By 1900 the Board of Conciliation for the Regulation of Wages in the Coal Trade of Scotland was an established forum at which coal owners and miners representatives met to discuss matters of mutual interest such as the setting of wages. The Board met in Glasgow, Scotland, and by 1921 was known as the Conciliation Board for the Coal Trade of Scotland.
