Margaret Brackenbury Lacey was born on the 26th October 1911 at Chorlton-cum-Haryd and died on the 4th October 1988 aged 76 in Llandudno.

She started her career as a magician's assistant in the 1930s and later got into acting. She appeared in over thirty films between 1957 and 1985, usually portraying the sweet old lady or motherly figure in minor roles. Some of her credits include: Bomb in the High Street (1963), Far from the Madding Crowd (1967), Black Beauty (1971) and the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever (1971) as Mrs. Whistler. She also appeared on television in shows such as The Saint and Coronation Street.

Her link to the Conwy is varied such as having held regular dancing classes in the 1950s and 1960s at the Metropole Hotel in Colwyn Bay. She also took part and helped organize concerts etc. at the Prince of Wales Theatre. Lacey was also a fixture at the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza where she would play Queen Victoria. She would retire and lived at Wern Cottage in Rowen, Conwy.
