Administrative / Biographical History
These two lever-arch files were presented by the compiler, Mrs C Scholes, to the Mayor of Doncaster, Councillor Margaret J Robinson. The occasion of the gift was the presentation of a cheque for £1600 raised towards the mayoral charity appeal for the Doncaster Hospice. The funds had been raised at a reunion of those formerly based at RAF Finningley organised by Mrs Scholes and colleagues and held at the Armthorpe Community Centre on 15 January 2000. The mayor transferred the volumes to Doncaster Archives at a meeting between herself, Mrs Scholes and friend and principal archivist at the mayor's parlour at the Mansion House on 15 February 2000.
