Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
These oral history interviews and subsequent book 'We Are South Highfields' (2012) were compiled by Penny Walker and the Highfields Association of Residents and Tenants. The oral history interviews were then donated to the East Midlands Oral History Archive (EMOHA) in 2013.
For the project, South Highfields was defined as from Leicester train station, up London Road to Evington Road, down Evington Road to East Park Road and along St. Peter's Road which becomes Sparkenhoe Street, down Conduit Street and back to the station. It includes 37 streets.
