Records of Holyhead and North Wales Gas and Water Corporation, 1854-1970, including minute books, 1896-1959; memoranda and articles of association, 1896-1899; papers relating to directors, 1901-1946; deeds and plans mainly relating to land in the parishes of Llangwstenin and Holyhead, 1856-1954; records relating to provisional orders, 1911-1935; financial records, 1896-1959; records relating to individual gas undertakings, 1854-1970; newspapers, 1911-1968; books and pamphlets, 1870-1951; advertising material, [c. 1901]-1949; and miscellaneous papers, 1933-1954.

Administrative / Biographical History

The Holyhead and North Wales Gas and Water Corporation Ltd was established in the late 19th century. Following nationalisation by the Gas Act 1948, the company came under the Wales Gas Board.

Arrangement

Arranged into two groups. Group One consists of company papers, deeds, material relating to provisional orders, financial, material relating to individual gas undertakings, printed material and miscellaneous; and Group Two consists of miscellaneous papers.
