A series of individual manuscripts which have were either purchased directly by the Manchester Medical Society or where their ownership and/or creation prior to them becoming part of the University's medical library is not known. The content of these manuscripts is very varied covering, surgery, anatomy, physiology, materia medica, chemistry and midwifery, and they have been further subdivided into those with their origins in the UK and so written in English and those from continental Europe.
