Administrative / Biographical History

The White Lion Inn, Pwll-trap, near St Clears, Carmarthenshire was owned by James Thomas, innkeeper and farmer, until his death in 1875. The property passed to his granddaughter, Elizabeth James and her husband William James, who mortgaged the inn to Sarah Nicholls of Gilfachyblawd, Llanwinio, but in 1897 sold it to Swansea United Breweries Limited. In 1926 the property was acquired by Truman Hanbury Buxton and Company Limited. It was bought by B. D. R. Thomas in 1963.
