Adjutants' Monthly Muster Rolls

Scope and Content

Monthly returns made to the War Office while the regiment was embodied. The returns included information on the names of officers and men, arranged by company, with remarks on sickness, movement to other companies etc. They also include a statistical summary.

The Adjutant made a copy of the returns to remain with the Regiment. These individual monthly returns have been bound into sections and then at a later date attached together in folders.

There are substantial gaps in the series: whether this is because the returns were not actually made each month, whether the Adjutant did not always keep a copy, or whether the copy has not survived, is not known.
