Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
This Board School was built on Garden Street in 1878; it was renamed the Garden Street Council School after 1903, when it had separate Senior Mixed, Junior Mixed and Infants Department. From 1930 the Boys and Girls Department were separate. In 1952 the school was renamed Mexborough Garden Street Infants County Primary. In 1960 the Junior Girls and Infants School was combined, but in 1965 the Junior Girls were transferred to the Adwick Road Junior Mixed School. The School closed in 1981.
