Papers of the University of Bristol - Buildings

These papers consist of information relating to the buildings of the University of Bristol in central Bristol, Long Ashton, and Langford. They include plans, surveys, costing exercises, committee minutes, photographs, and letterbooks.

This collection originates both from the University of Bristol and the firms of Sir George Oatley (Oatley & Lawrence, Oatley & Brentnall). The papers relate for the most part to University of Bristol buildings, though some documents and plans relate to buildings designed by Oatley and his partners for customers other than the University, and others relate to properties which were later purchased by the University.

The papers of the University of Bristol are arranged artificially, in the order received by Special Collections.

Accessible to all bona fide readers, though some items of a sensitive nature are restricted.

These papers were acquired from the University of Bristol and a number of private individuals, including Ralph Brentnall of Oatley&Brentnall.
