The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research initiated a project on "Structure and Economy of the Building Industry" in 1962. It was closely associated with the UMIST Department of Building, and largely managed by Professor Denis Harper. The project was wound up in 1966. The volume contains minutes of the Steering Committee and latterly the Research Committee.
