Annual reports were submitted for the annual general meetings of the members of the Institution, normally held in February. The reports typically include: the reports of directors, reports of individual classes and the Institution's schools, library, social clubs, accounts, reports of examinations, internal and external, lists of life members and honorary members and reports of speeches delivered at the AGM. Annual reports 1825-1827 are in manuscript format in the Directors' minute books (MMI/1/1); printed versions do not appear to have been produced before 1828. Also present are annual reports of Manchester Technical School and Mechanics' Institution for 1884-1891, when ownership was transferred to the local authority.
