The material comprises:

(a) Numbers 1-10, nine letters from various correspondents to the Rt Hon. Thomas Spring-Rice, 1st Baron Monteagle of Brandon (July 1854-c 1859), and one note from Lord Monteagle (undated);
(b) Numbers 11-15, five letters to Lord Monteagle from his son the Hon. Charles Spring-Rice (1845-1855).
