The volume contains letters addressed to Sir Henry Enfield Roscoe. Correspondents include several eminent scientists such as Robert Wilhelm Bunsen, Leo Königsberger, Richard Meyer, Louis Pasteur, Georg Quincke, (Sir) Ronald Ross, and (Sir) A.W. Ward. The letters are interspersed with newspaper cuttings, concerning inter alia Owens College, and obituaries. The largest section of letters and obituaries relate to R.W. Bunsen, including handwritten notes [by Roscoe?] on Bunseniana, 1899. Most letters are routine expressions of thanks, invitations, condolence etc. Several relate to Roscoe's knighthood.
