Administrative / Biographical History

This school was built by the Wesleyan Methodists and opened as Doncaster Wesleyan Girls School in 1871. After 1904 the school was managed by Doncaster Corporation. The school existed as a girls school from its opening in 1871 until 1930. In September 1930, under the Hadow reorganization scheme the school opened as Oxford Place Junior Mixed School with 94 boys who had transferred from the Boys School which had been closed and 128 girls. The school closed in July 1931.
