Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Founded in 1832, the undenominational school was divided into Boys, Girls (See SR79) and Infants departments at Wood Street. In 1907 the Chequer Road Boys Council School was opened and boys transferred from Wood Street. From 1927 it became known as Beechfield Boys Council School. In 1967 it merged with the Junior Girls to form the Junior Mixed School (see SR9)
