Scope and Content

An 18th-century English translation, in several hands, of the Moravian Headquarters (Gemeinhaus) Diary for the years 1747-53, and 1755-64 (incomplete), in six boxes, as follows:

  • I, Eng MS 945: 1747 (329 folios); 1748 (144 folios); 1749 (169 folios), 1750 (453 folios), 1751 (988 folios);
  • II, Eng MS 946: 1752 (255 folios), 1753 (216 folios), 1755 (907 folios), 1756 (1,009 folios);
  • III, Eng MS 947: 1757 (659 folios ), 1758 (1,024 folios);
  • IV, Eng MS 948: 1759 (895 folios), 1760 (875 folios);
  • V, Eng MS 949: 1761 (710 folios), 1762 (705 folios);
  • VI, Eng MS 950: 1763 (637 folios), 1764 (86 folios).

Acquired as part of the John Norman Libbey bequest, July 1946.

Related Material
