Administrative / Biographical History
Frank Arnold Barnes was born in 1920. He served as a meteorological officer with the R.A.F. in Anglesey during the Second World War. He developed a deep interest in the geography of Anglesey. This became the main focus of his research during his years on the staff of the geography department at Nottingham University from 1947 until his retirement in 1985. He died in 2003. His papers are mostly based on Anglesey and Arfon (which Barnes himself refers to as Monarfon).
