Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
This school opened on 10 June 1929 as the Junior Boys' Department of the Armthorpe Schools with 309 pupils (see SR48/1/1 page 1). This school received pupils from Armthorpe (Temporary) Junior Mixed Council School which existed between November 1927 and June 1929 (see SR50). Records of Armthorpe Junior Girls' Department are catalogued under reference SR49. In 1962 the Boys' and Girls' schools closed with pupils transferring to the newly erected Junior Mixed School on Mere Lane.
