Son of Henry Woollen, civil servant, and Sarah Hastings. Attended Lavender Hill Elementary School and Ipswich School. BA in mathematics at St John's College, 1909. Taught at Wellesley House, Broadstairs, 1909-10. Ordained deacon in the Church of England 1911, then converted to Roman Catholicism. Schoolmaster at Mount St Benedict, Gorey, County Wexford 1915-18, St Gerard's, Bray, County Wicklow, 1918-21, Downside School 1921-27, and Ealing Priory School 1927. Treated for tuberculosis at Nordrach-upon Mendip sanatorium. Taught at Campion House, Osterley, 1939-50. Died 22 July 1960.
