Administrative / Biographical History
Committees to advise the Lord Chancellor on matters concerning justices of the peace, including the appointment of additional justices, were established following the 'Report of the Royal Commission on the Selection of Justices of the Peace' of 1911 (Cd.5250). Advisory committees could be appointed by the Lord Chancellor for counties and for boroughs having a separate commission of the peace
