The UMIST Hiking Club included students of the Manchester College of High Education, who were based at Gaskell College (this had previously been known as the College of Domestic Science, and its students were colloquially referred to as "Domskis"). This connections appears to have lasted until the MCHE students became part of Manchester Polytechnic in 1984.
