St. David’s Diocese Mothers’ Union

Scope and Content

The collection comprises of Committee, Diocesan and Trustee meetings minutes (1895 – 2018), financial accounts and reports (1967 – 2017), secretary’s reports (1955 – 1975), annual reports and journals (1920 – 2012), Deanery and Branch meeting minutes, reports, and other records (1955 – 2017), and photographs and other material (1913 – 2016).

Administrative / Biographical History

The Mothers’ Union was founded in 1876 by Mary Sumner, the Union for St. David’s Diocese was founded ten years later in 1886, it became a registered charity in 1966. There are currently 37 groups across the Diocese with around 1000 members involved with local, national and international projects to bring about real change for family life, women’s and girls’ rights, and the protection of children.
