Letter from RD to his mother and brothers John and Bill. He urges them not to be frightened by the sensational American press, and stresses that while London and other places have been badly bombed, the debris is quickly cleared and the public are not scared. He also refers to: the difficulties of high taxation; plans to let the whole of Brambleberry while he is making his new film [The young Mr Pitt]; and his request for published cartoons by [Otto] Soglow, some books by Ludwig Bemelman, and a subscription to the New Yorker.
