Scope and Content

The volume contains:

  • Folios 1-13v: copy of the will of Humphrey Chetham [16 December 1651], entitled A true copie of the last Will of Humphrey Cheetham, Esqr. (Raines and Sutton, op. cit., pp. 228-61);
  • Folios 14-16v: copy of the foundation charter of Chetham's Hospital and Library, 10 November 1665, entitled The Foundation of the Hospital and Library (Raines and Sutton, op. cit., pp. 302-08);
  • Folio 17: An Order for the Governors of the Hospital and Library at Manchester, etc., 1669, respecting the building of a Gallery in the parish Church of Manchester for the Officers and Boys of the said Hospital;
  • Folios 17v-28v are blank.
