Administrative / Biographical History
This school was formerly part of Hexthorpe Board School (mixed) the records of which are listed under reference SR.143. In 1926, the Board School was divided into Junior Boys and Junior Girls Schools these being the records of the Girls School. The Boys and Girls Schools merged in 1931 to form Hexthorpe Council Junior Mixed School for pupils aged between 7 and 12 years. The Boys School log book (SR.143/1/3) was used by the new school while the Girls School log book was closed. This school existed as a separate institution only between 1926 and 1931.
