Correspondence relating to the formation of the Section of Community Medicine of the Manchester Medical Society accumulated by Dr Willis John Elwood b.1920. Elwood was president of the North Western Branch from 1974 and honorary secretary of the steering committee set up with regard to formation of Section of Community Medicine. He was also a regional representative for the North West on the Council of the Society of Community Medicine. Elwood was actively involved in the transfer of records from the Branch to the Section of Community Medicine. It is likely that, although not strictly a North-Western Branch record, this file was kept with the archive from this period.
