Administrative / Biographical History
The Hooton Light Railway Company was an abortive project promoted by Herbert Levinstein to build a small light railway line in the Wirral, Cheshire. This would have linked up the BDC Ellesmere Port works with London and North West/GWR Helsby branch railway. Levinstein and Harry McGowan were directors, and the main shareholder was the BDC. The project never got off the ground and was cancelled in 1922, before the railway was built. The company was formally wound up in 1927
