Letter

Scope and Content

Author comments again on McNair’s Latin studies and refers to an exam he is due to take on the day of the letter. He himself doubts his talents as a writer and admits to bouts of mental depression. Writing in 1939, Health-Stubbs reveals that he is no longer shocked or surprised by Adolf Hitler’s actions and has become apathetic towards the news. He tells McNair about a review he read in the Times of the King and Queen [King George VI and Queen Elizabeth]'s visit to the National Institute for the Blind, although he was not present.
