Formerly part of the Radford Library, St Mary's Hospital, Manchester where it was allocated the reference number F 91 viz. their 1877 library catalogue. A note on the inside cover describes it as an 'alphabetical catalogue of papers on obstetric subjects in certain of the British medical journals by Thomas Radford M.D.'.
The volume is a standard index with tabbed and lettered pages on which are set out the titles of various articles on obstetrics. They are listed alphabetically by the title not the author, which is not always given. Initials preceding the title indicate which journal it can be found in and then the volume and page number are given. A glossary in the front gives a list of the full names of the journals and the corresponding initials that are used in the index.
