Scope and Content

The volume has the original pagination pp.1-264 and bears the bookplates of both William St Clare and the Manchester Medical Society, which indicates that it was donated to them by Clay in 1861 and subsequently allocated the reference GO 2065 viz. their 1890 library catalogue.

The manuscript consists of a series of clinical reports for both men and women of varying ages and suffering from a variety of complaints that most likely formed part of clinical lectures given at Edinburgh University, which during this period would have been given by William Cullen (1710-1790) and John Gregory (1724-1773). Each report gives the patient's name, age, and date of admission as well as a description of their bodily condition, their symptoms, and a running day by day account of their condition and the treatments administered.
