The material comprises:
- (a) numbers 1-80, miscellaneous letters (November 1885-October 1903) to Marion Harry Spielmann from the artist George Frederic Watts (1817-1904). Most were written from Little Holland House, Kensington and from Monkshatch and Limnerslease, Guildford; numbers 12-14 are from Mentone (April 1888); numbers 15-18 from Aix-les-Bains (May-June 1889); and numbers 26-35 from Brighton (December 1888-May 1889);
- (b) numbers 81-82, two letters from Mrs M.S. [Mary Seton] Watts (1849-1938) to Spielmann; another letter from her to him is written on blank pages of number 12.
