Scope and Content

Forty-seven miscellaneous letters (September 1885-October 1893) to Marion Harry Spielmann from the painter Ford Madox Brown (1821-1893). Numbers 1-34 (September 1885-September 1887) were written from Manchester (Victoria Park or the Town Hall) [Brown was then working on a series of wall paintings for the great hall of Manchester Town Hall]. Numbers 35-47 were written from London (1 St. Edmund's Terrace, Regent's Park, N.W.) or Bath (29 Rivers Street).
