Correspondence between William Waugh and former colleagues and contemporaries, relating to requests by Waugh for information in relation to Charnley’s work in relation to engineering, biomechanics, and the selection and development of materials.

Also included is a curriculum vitae for John Charnley, and the text of a speech by L.B. Ward for the presentation of an honorary degree conferred upon Charnley by Manchester Polytechnic, [1977]. There is an article by Barbara Yuncker on Charnley and hip replacement surgery entitled ‘The Miraculous Hip That Helps the Crippled’ in Reader’s Digest [1977], and a copy of Charnley’s entry in Who’s Who, 1977.
