Scope and Content

The correspondence of John Charnley was procured by William Waugh from Charnley’s correspondents in the course of his research for Charnley’s biography. The majority of the correspondence is between Charnley and Chas. Thackray Ltd, James Howorth and Co. and CMW Laboratories Ltd. There is also information on lectures and papers given by Charnley, and a small amount correspondence exchanged with his friends and family. There is a selection of booklets on products, and a small amount of sample of materials.
