Scope and Content

The first 13 folios record a total of 14 separate cases attended by Windsor during the cholera epidemic that began in 1832. There are patients of both sexes ranging in age from 14 to 70 and including two pregnant women. For most their name, age and street address are given. Similar symptoms consistent with cholera are described by Windsor for nearly all the patients, with the exception of two whose cases are dealt with in brief. A number of treatments are employed and include but are not limited to hot bricks to the feet, a mustard poultice, an 'effervescing medicine' made of sodium carbonate, ammonia, water and citric acid, mint tea, brandy, opium, and prussic acid.

Folios 14-32 are blank.
