Staley, the son of John Christopher George Staley, was born on 16 September 1881 and studied medicine at the University of Manchester. He was a general practitioner in St Anne's-on-Sea and was surgeon at the St Anne's War Memorial Hospital. Staley died on 30 March 1974.
