Drawings and watercolours by Walter Strachan

Scope and Content

This series contains original drawings and watercolours by Walter Strachan which were included in the collection by Geoffrey Strachan to provide examples of his father's own work. In some cases these drawings stand alone, and in others they are left in their original context - along with the typescripts, photographs and other material to which they relate. The material includes: sketches of landscape and architecture made by Strachan, both for pleasure and to illustrate specific articles he was writing; rhyme sheets - essentially poems written out and illustrated by Strachan; drawings and sketches he made for use in his lectures and as notes towards his published works; and examples of Christmas cards he produced.
