Scope and Content

Letters to HLP from Samuel Lysons, antiquary. Samuel, brother of Daniel Lysons, practised law from the 1780s until 1803, when he was appointed Keeper of the Records in the Tower of London. From 1798 until 1809 he was honorary director of the Society of Antiquaries. Lysons had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, including Horace Walpole and HLP.
