Scope and Content

Journals by HLP of her travels in Italy and Germany with Gabriel Piozzi, shortly after their marriage. In March 1787 HLP returned to England to produce an edition of Samuel Johnson's letters. Two notebooks in HLP's hand, written up from time to time as follows:

  • (1) Italian Journey, 5 September 1784 - 26 (?) September 1786; entitled Italian Journey 1784 in ink on front cover;
  • (2) German Journey, 22 September 1786 - (?) March 1787; entitled German Journey 1786 in ink on front cover.
