Owens Park Policy Committee minutes

Scope and Content

Minutes of the Owens Park Policy Committee, known as the Owens Park Committee from 1982. The Committee was set up in 1973, as a committee of Council. It was chaired by a senior academic, and members included the Senior Tutor at the Park and a student representative of the Owens Park Association. The committee had oversight for the running of the Park residential complex, including tutoring arrangements. The Committee appears to have stopped being a sessional committee in late 1996, although it continued to meet after this date.

Owens Park is a large student residential complex in the Fallowfield area. It opened in 1964, and was the University's first mixed residential accommodation. Owens Park was based on a "student village" concept, and includes the Owens Park Tower and a series of "student houses" accommodating up to 50 individuals.
