Scope and Content

This composite series consists of minutes of sessional committees and ad hoc of Council. The earlier minutes relate mainly to the smaller ad hoc committees. The minutes of some committees such as the Leave of Absence Committee, the Administrative Arrangements Committee and the Advisory Committee on the Journal for Semitic Studies have been included in these volumes for the duration of their existence. In addition, some minutes of other committees are included, duplicating the minutes of committees whose records form a discrete component of this archive. This is particularly the case for Council committees' minutes between c. 1950-1970, when an effort was made to include all such minutes in these volumes. This ceased to be the case in the early 1970s, when only the minutes of a small handful of committees was included in this series, with most documents being confirmations of appointments.

Arranged chronologically. Note: the volume numbers do not coincide with the reference numbers as the first volume of minutes is unnumbered.
