Scope and Content

Two drawings side by side of cervical spinal cord revealed at operation. Annotations on the back read "50/10/13/09 Fig23 Mr Tutton Radiol. 10/50 18" and "Cervical disc at 6/7 no swelling of cord patient's name Manchester University". The latter of the two comments has been scribbled out.

This drawing features as fig.18 in the publication H. Davies, R.G. Reid, and G.K. Tutton, 'Discussion on myelography', Proceedings of the Royal Society of Medicine, 1951, 44(10), pp.881-93. The caption in the article offers the following description "Operation sketch of cervical cord in a completely arteriorly situated disc...The cord opposite C6 arched gently backwards and looks paler than the rest. In the smaller picture a diffuse bulge above the roots of C6 is seen".
