Scope and Content

Two pencil drawings side by side showing the brain retracted to reveal a tumour. The drawing on the left was made at the operation and the one on the right was made at the post mortem. There is a smaller sketch at the top showing details of the tumour bed and an outline drawing of the patient's head below to show the position of the operative incision. Annotations on the back read "Sectional drawing also. 14.12.38 Largest pineal tumour seen to date infiltrated into optic thalamus, pushed vermis back & down - obliterating quad. Bodies. 8cmx4cm. Only clinical sign absence of light reflexes-diagnos. pineal tumour. Glioblastoma multiforme. Jefferson". The wrong surname is given on the front but this is corrected on the back.
