PM chromophobe adenoma

Scope and Content

Three pencil post mortem sketches demonstrating the position of the patient's tumour. Labels on the drawing are as follows: optic tract, dura, pons, tumour, 5th N, and cerebellum.

This drawing features as figure 5 in the publication G. Jefferson, 'Extrasellar extensions of pituitary adenomas. President's address', Proceedings of the Royal Society of Medicine, 1940, vol. 33, pp.433-58 in which it is described as "Chromophobe adenoma with left temporal extension. Drawing of lobulated chromophobe adenoma of pituitary." The patient name given on the front of the drawing refers to one of Geoffrey Jefferson's patients, patient 1934/287, but it is believed this name has been written in error. Instead, in line with the information given alongisde the drawing in the published article, this image would appear to relate to another patient of Jefferson's, patient 1935/39.
