Two large drawings side by side of an operation on the spinal cord in which the cord is swollen. There is a small pencil outline sketch at the bottom in the centre showing the position of the lesion in the vertebral body. Annotations on the back read "Mr Guthkelch - - 47". At this time Arthur Norman Guthkelch was a resident surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary working under Sir Geoffrey Jefferson.
