Black and white photograph of a flap turned back at operation, dura opened, and retractor in place mounted on a card produced by the Manchester Royal Infirmary's Department of Medical Photography which gives the patient's name, department, and photographic index number. VFA.7.135 is a drawing of the exact same image and serves as a useful comparison between artistic and photographic representations in medical illustrations.
