Holme was honorary lieutenant-colonel in the RAMC before entering the public health service. He held medical officer positions in Cheshire before being appointed area medical officer for Tameside AHA. Holme was a member of the Society of Medical Officers of Health. Holme died on 28 April 1989 aged 74.
