Archibald Hill studied at Trinity College Cambridge and graduated in natural sciences in 1909. from 1910-1916 he was fellow of Trinity College. In 1920 he came to Manchester a Brackenbury professor of physiology, and in 1922 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in physiology and medicine in 1922 jointly with Otto Meyerhoff for his work on the production of heat in the muscle. In 1923 he moved to University College London. From 1945 he was MP for Cambridge University. He was a FRS, and was appointed a Companion of Honour in 1946.
